SUMMARY:Make a Little Companion Doll
DESCRIPTION:Join us for this magical workshop\, Make a Little Companion Doll with Beth Weaver-Kreider! The class will be held on Sunday\, November 17\, 2024 from 2 to 5pm. \n\n\n\nDolls and poppets are tools of the magickal traditions of many cultures\, through many times\, as lucky charms\, as emblems of sympathetic magical healing\, and even as the physical symbol for hex magic. \n\n\n\nIn this workshop\, we will create Little Companion Dolls\, using mostly European techniques\, particularly the Eastern European tradition of using only knots—no needles—in the construction. \n\n\n\nIn the Eastern European story of Vasilisa the Brave\, Vasilisa’s Little Protector Doll (a gift from her mother) helps her to win her fire from Baba Yaga\, the Wild Woman of the Woods. We will charge our own Little Companions to help us meet the various challenges of our current quests and to help us find our fire. \n\n\n\nClass size will be limited\, and advance registration is recommended. For the protection of everyone attending the class\, if you have any symptoms of cold\, flu\, or any other virus\, we ask that you not attend. \n\n\n\nCost is $45 per person. You can register here\, call (717) 290-1517\, or stop in the shop! If you register online\, be sure to choose Local Pick-up in the shipping options so that you won’t be charged for shipping. \n\n\n\nMaterials and tools will be provided\, but you may want to bring scraps of fabric that are special to you\, beads\, threads\, scissors. \n\n\n\nAs Vasilisa did when she was sent into the woods\, you can ask your doll to protect you\, to bring you luck\, to comfort you\, to give you advice when you’re caught in a quandary\, or to accompany you on a journey. Ask them for courage to speak your truth. In gratitude\, feed them crumbs from your lunch\, sing to them\, offer them your breath. Make them a bag to hold messages and promises\, string beads around their neck. Ask them to tell you their name. \n\n\n\nBeth is a poet and teacher from York County. She has been studying magical practices for thirty years. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a fun\, informational Solstice celebration! We have lots of devotional statues arranged around the store. 20 of the statues have clues. Find the statues and successfully complete the accompanying crossword puzzle to win a prize! Drop in anytime between 9:30 am and 3:30 pm on the Summer Solstice (June 20\, 2024). We hope you will learn more about each deity and what they are known for through the process. \n\n\n\nHow does it work? \n\n\n\nStop in and let us know you’d like to participate in the scavenger hunt! You will receive a blank crossword puzzle. Each deity has a name tag and clue. Use the name and clue to help you figure out the word that belongs in the crossword puzzle. When you feel ready to tackle the crossword\, head to the table set up in the lending library to puzzle over the crossword. After you have finished the crossword\, let us know. If all of your answers are correct\, you win a prize!

DESCRIPTION:Join us in celebration of We’Moon 2023: Silver Lining \n\n\n\nGathering in circle for a poetry bath on this waxing moon of Samhain season\, we will reflect on the passing year\, meditate on new beginnings\, and set a personal intention for this next moon cycle. We will meditate on the theme of Silver Linings – sharing our visions of possibility\, hope and transformation.  \n\n\n\nUsing the new We’Moon as a type of oracle\, each of us will have the opportunity to randomly select a page to read to the group. If you have written something yourself about the New Moon\, please feel free to bring it to share. \n\n\n\nLocal writer\, Angela Bigler\, will read several pieces of her poetry which have been published in We’Moon over the years and speak about her We’Moon journey. Perhaps you are wondering how to submit your own writing to We’Moon for publication?
