Barberry root (Berberis vulgaris)

Used to relieve inflammation caused by bacterial or protozoal infections of ears, nose, throat, and sinuses, and in salves to relieve pain caused by topical yeast infections. Also used to relieve psoriasis.

Contains berberine, also found in Goldenseal, Oregon Grape root, and Turmeric.  Barberry root is a good substitute for Goldenseal in most formulas, and is much more sustainable.  We recommend very judicious use of Goldenseal, and only cultivated.

Adults should limit internal use of Barberry to 7 consecutive days at a time, waiting at least a week before using barberry again.
