Linden, or Tilia is sometimes called the Lime Tree, especially in the British Isles. The tree is also known as Basswood.

Linden flowers are wonderful for soothing and supporting the nervous system. Linden has a relaxing quality, so it’s good for calming, and in bedtime teas.

It’s one of the herbs in my Heart’s Ease tea.

Said to be good for people who are grieving, it’s a good addition to heart formulas.

Also helps some people with headaches, and might lower blood pressure.

From late spring to early summer linden bears an abundance of fragrant, tiny white-yellow flowers clustered in cymes (flower clusters with a central stem). These flowers are extremely delicate, so an elongated feathery bract forms at the base of the flower cluster to protect it and aid in seed dispersal. The bract is considered part of the flower structure and harvested at the same time as the flowers and buds. Linden flowers are small and yellowish, with a distinctive heart shape and are the most commonly used part of the tree.

These flowers produce a slightly sweet aromatic scent with a hint of citrus, making them perfect for a gentle wellness tea or as a fragrant and effective ingredient in DIY lotions. Its sweet aroma is a relaxing break for mind, body, and spirit.

And the flowers smell heavenly.
