Monarda, also known as Bee balm, Wild bergamot, Oswego tea, and Sweetleaf, is native to North America and is a traditional medicinal herb here, though not widely in use at this time.  The taste is similar to bergamot, hence the name Wild Bergamot.

It has been used for any yeast overgrowth condition, including Candida and athlete’s foot.

Herbalist Matthew Wood also recommends it for moving “heat” in the kidneys, bladder and gall bladder.

Some people feel that it can be helpful with tinnitus.
