This sistrum is rattle-like instrument representing the goddess Hathor. Hathor is the mother goddess of music, love, and joy.
The sistrum was used by temple priestesses to aid in pacifying the deities, in ritual healing, and to ward off the flooding of the Nile.
This item is a replica of ancient sistrums now in museums.
